Holiday Wishes
from the Kamloops Homelessness Action Plan

The HAP would like to send many thanks to everyone who has been helping to end homelessness in Kamloops!  There is a long list of people who have been helping house, feed and care for people at-risk of homelessness.  Perhaps the most fitting place to start is at the front-line where Outreach Workers and Street Nurses make contact with people in need.  These dedicated, strong and compassionate people work with people in crisis every day and we thank them for their selflessness.  We would also like to thank all of the Community Agencies, Churches, Non-Profits and Public bodies who provide Housing and Support Services all through the year.  Everyone involved deserves high praise for their tireless efforts.

Another thank you goes to the Vancouver Foundation and the Tula Community Fund for supporting the HAP with $6,000.00 that will go towards a Community Assessment of Life Skills Training Services, and to Teck Industries for their generous donation of $50,000.00 that will be used to implement solutions that help people transition to Financial Independence. Huge thanks also go to Thompson Rivers University for their involvement on many levels, and in particular for all of the students who have been involved in Community Based Projects.  We would also like to thank the Community Partners in the HAP; the City of Kamloops, United Way, ASK Wellness Centre, Elizabeth Fry Society and Canadian Mental Health Association, along with the amazing volunteers who have dedicated their valuable time to become involved through Changing the Face of Poverty, the HAP Leadership Council, and the Kamloops Housing Board.

We look forward to working with you all in 2012, and we look forward to all of the progress we will make towards providing safe, appropriate, housing for everyone in our community.  Thank you Kamloops!
